The Suhum Municipal Assembly has held its 1st ordinary meeting of the 1st session of the 9th Assembly on 20th June, 2024. The meeting was organized to discussed and approved the Executive Committee report and other related matters
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Margaret Darko Darkwa stated that, the Executive Committee, after a comprehensive review of reports submitted by the various Sub-committees and carefully considering the issues presented, came up with the the following recommendations for consideration and approval of the general house.
The various recommendations included, Prioritizing the completion of Akorabo Police Station, empower Assembly Members to enhance their support in revenue mobilisation, Revenue Collection from Public toilet operators, Caution against use of car tyres in meat preparation, Provision of waste containers to Ali Community, Surmon the heads of the National Identification Authority (NIA) and Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) to brief the general Assembly, among others.
On Prioritizing the completion of Akorabo Police Station, the Executive Committee were advised that the project is long overdue and is essential for ensuring public security and safety in the area hence recommended that the project should be completed within a shortest possible time. She added that, on the issue of the use of car tyres in meat preparation, the Committee recommended that those responsible for animal slaughtering should be invited and caution them to refrained from such act and failure to comply will result in several sanctions.
She continued that, the Committee was informed that when Assembly Members increased their support in revenue mobilisation, more revenue will be paid.The Executive Committee recommended that, the Assembly Members should use all avenue at its disposal to educate their electorates on the benefits of paying their taxes and should report any revenue leakages they identify to the Assembly.
On provision of waste containers for Ali Community, the Committee recommended that the Assembly should take urgent action to provide the containers for the community to prevent the dangers associated with children crossing busy roads to disposed garbages and it will promote proper waste management in the community.
After a long deliberation by the General Assembly, Members accepted and approved the various recommendations made by the Executive Committee.
