The availability of potable water is very vital for the socioeconomic development of every society. There are about 9 main sources of water for households within the Municipality.
Major sources of water supply in district include pipe borne water, boreholes, wells, streams and rivers. Pipe borne water is concentrated in urban areas such as Suhum the Municipal Capital and Okorase. Nankese operates small town water system which provides water to more than 80 percent of the households in Nankese. Boreholes, wells, and streams or rivers are dominant in the rural areas.
